Here is an enigma which needs to be interpreted anew: Harran. The present study tries to clarify a historical question which has never been answered since the 19th century CE = 12 Hegira). As a matter of fact one could never imagine how the history of the ancient Carre could become an object of several disciplines: starting from philosophy down to anthropology and history itself. Harran is a city Iocated on the border of two great empires of the ancient world: the Roman and the Persian empires. Aside from this, during the middle ages, Harran got involved in the struggle between the two monotheistic religions: Christian and Islam. Unbelievably though, the pagan religion (particularly astral worshippers) continued to flourish not only in its rituals but even in its cultural aspects as well. It is likely important to emphasize the continuity of this pagan belief in the city of Harran which has found support by the presence of a platonic academy in it and with a great astronomical culture supported by ancient texts of Mesopotamia civilizations and books from Pahlavai Iran and India . With the help of rare ancient texts and of the few essays about this town and its population, it is possible to point out the pagan belief among its dwellers, the philosophical neoplatonic and hermetic creed of the members of the academy.
